Working Hunter Training Day – 07/04/2023
BCPS member Heather Metcalf was awarded the latest Pat Parker Legacy grant to organise a Points Scheme and Working Hunter Training Day for riders in the North of England and Scotland. The Training Day took place at Greenlands Equestrian Centre, Carlisle on 7th April. The instructors were Susie Gibson and Vikki Smith who have experience in training and riding Champion WHPs at HOYS, RI, Windsor etc. The aim was to get top class trainers to help the riders get the best from their ponies at the start of the season and this aim was most definitely achieved! The day was greatly appreciated by all who came and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive.
Heather Metcalf writes
“I would like to thank the BCPS and Pat Parker Legacy for having the faith in me to take this on and run it. I won’t lie it wasn’t always easy and a lot of hidden work but so worth it when we saw the results of this training on the day. We had Topspec there with a weighbridge and feeding advice and that was very informative. I hope we did a good job and helped a lot of people to get more out of their ponies and have a better understanding of the importance of correct training.”
