Pat Parker Legacy

Sue Neville-Parker writes:-

“I am delighted that Heather Metcalf has been awarded a grant from the Pat Parker Legacy. Similar to the existing BCPS Performance Awards, Heather has proposed a points award scheme for the Northern Region of England  and Scotland open to  anyone who owns and competes on  a pure  bred Connemara pony.

There will be the choice of gaining points in 3 out of the 5 options: dressage, arena eventing, show jumping and WHP (plaited) and M & M WHP (unplaited). The basic rules will be the same as for the Performance Awards but will be divided into  the following categories only: adult and junior. Special Rosettes will be awarded to all participants as well as 1st to 6th place. The scheme will run over approx. 3 months culminating in a Training Day at Greenlands Equestrian Centre, (Carlisle) in April. Heather has managed to book two top level trainers – Vikki Smith for flat work and Susie Gibson for jumping – and there will be an In Hand demo at lunch time. All participants in the scheme will be invited to attend FOC and   free or subsidised ridden places will be offered to those with the highest points.  Heather’s aim is to make the day “helpful, informative and friendly”. While this scheme will be open to members and non members of the BCPS, members will be given a discount on the price for the card and the training day”.
