Miss Pat Lyne

It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of Pat Lyne today. Pat was a very long-standing member of the British Connemara Pony Society and will be sorely missed by all her knew her.
She leaves a literary legacy, which has given great pleasure to many Connemara pony breeders and owners, and in addition has provided a huge amount of knowledge on the origins and development of the breed both all over the world as well as in Ireland and the UK.
Whilst serving on the ECPS Council, Pat proposed the idea of an annual publication containing the activities of members, together with articles relating to Connemara ponies, and so the Connemara Chronicle was born. Now in its 48th. year, and ably edited by Lady Scott, it still fulfills its original function.
As a breeder, Pat was in her element, and the Chiltern ponies have made a huge impact on the breed all over the world; their success led to judging appointments at shows organised by many overseas societies through which Pat made a host of friends.
Although raised in the Church of England, Pat subsequently converted to Roman Catholicism; her faith and the Church were very important elements in her life.
Those of us who knew her have lost a great ally of all things Connemara, a tireless supporter and most of all, a true friend. We send our love and condolences to Pat’s niece, Nicola Brain and her family at this very sad time.
