Merit Awards

Merit Awards

The Council launched the Society’s new Merit Awards Scheme in 2023.

The Premium Scheme was retired some eight years ago and the Merit Awards have been devised to follow on from them.

Merit Awards are to be awarded in the following categories:-

In Hand, Ridden, Working Hunter Pony, Show Jumping, Dressage, Eventing, Endurance and Trec.

We hope that the variety of disciplines will give all mares and stallions registered in the BCPS Stud Book a chance to gain awards.

The rules, criteria and application forms may be downloaded here or requested from the Office.

CLOSING DATE FOR 2025 AWARDS 30TH SEPTEMBER 2025 at 5pm (any application received after the time/date will beheld over until the following year).

Explanatory notes:
Eventing is the nearest comparison as each competition consists of three phases, and the level of difficulty increases at each level of competition.
Level 1 is quite attainable for most schooled equines.
Level 2 – height of jumps and length/speed of POR increases.
Level 3 and 4 require a high degree of skill and fitness.
